Before Ray started his tattoo journey, he served and honored our country as a Combat Engineer in the US Army. After his tour in Afghanistan, he knew he wanted to step out of the box and utilize his drawing talent nurtured since school days.
In 2006, Ray reached out to his mentor, Chino Santiago, and embarked on his tattooing journey alongside him. This experience shaped Ray's path, leading him to co-found Smokin Ink, which later evolved into the renowned Topline Tattoo Gallery. Ray's dedication to the craft and continuous pursuit of excellence propelled him to expand his expertise by working at Ink Spot in Mankato, MN, and Absolut Ink in Okoboji, IA.
Ray's extensive experience as a walk-in tattoo artist has honed his skills across various styles. He finds joy in tattooing a wide range, from old to new school and neo-traditional, infusing each design with bold, beautiful colors.
